Growing Native Youth Anti-Violence Advocates - Native Seeds That Sprout Deep Roots!
The National Indigenous Women's Resource Center and the NativeLove Project is honored to host the 2nd biennial NativeLove youth track. We call on our young relatives to participate to engage in meaningful discussions with their peers, families, and communities to raise awareness about ending violence to restore balance in relationships and promote healthy lifestyles. Our goal is to inspire, empower, and mobilize tribal youth to advocate against violence against Native women, youth, and children and create social change with the strength of our Ancestors to be good relatives to one another and our homelands.
The youth track will encourage our young people to amplify their voices to increase their capacity to address violence that impedes healthy lifestyles and relationships. The youth sessions are filled with culturally-themed interactive activities, workshops, mentorship opportunities, peer-to-peer youth engagement, development of youth media-based resources for social media, digital storytelling, and arts/culture for connecting, healing, and growing the movement among our youth - Native seeds that sprout deep roots.
The final project will provide an opportunity for the Native youth to share what they learned drawing from the cultural knowledge and strength, languages, and resilience of our Ancestors and people. Our young relatives will present and share their creations during the closing plenary session of the Women Are Sacred Conference. The combined plenary will provide a valuable opportunity to showcase their leadership, talents, knowledge and advocacy along with time for conference participants, elders and experienced leaders to share encouraging words with youth participants.
